Look at those names Billy Wagner is out-pacing. I see seven or eight guys whose career I'd rather have than his.

Even trying to take away the roids, there are three or four candidacies I find it hard to place behind his.

To me he is after Rollins and even Petite - he didn't even hit 1,000 innings! A hall with Billy Wagner has lowered the longevity bar too much.

Wright is still hanging on at over 5%. I'm surprised. It might seem sacrilegious, but he never struck me as a Hall of Famer. Reyes hopefully gets a little support; he's not good enough for 5%, but he should get SOME love. Colon has a vote already, which is cute. Abreu is one of those guys who'll stick around for the full 10 years then get elected via the VC in 25 years.

Reyes doesn't deserve shit. Domestic violence. I wouldn't be caught dead wearing that T-shirt anymore.

Wright would have been an interesting case if he had played 5 more years without injury. As his career stands, he lacks longevity and lacks the peak that makes up for that. He is a slightly better Don Mattingly with a season and a half less play appearances.

As much as I hate saying it, Wright is not a hall of famer.

Andruw Jones in the Post-Season: .273 / .363 / .433 // .796 in 279 plate appearances.

That's nothing to sneeze at.

Carlos Beltrán in the Post-Season: .307 / .412 / .609 // 1.021 in 256 plate appearances.

How does this stunning performance get buried in Carlos' story? Yeah, we have a lot more in post-season opportunities these days, and even though some of it is against lesser competition, the greater volume should be expected to normalize high slash numbers.

But Beltrán put up post-season numbers that Reggie Jackson wishes he had. He also went 11-for-11 in stolen-base attempts.

I’m guessing it’s the fall out from his last postseason run that is keeping Beltran from the Hall!

Yes, Beltran is undoubtedly suffering the repercussions of being one of the players most associated with the trash can banging.

As it should be. I wouldn't vote for him. I'd vote for the steroids guys a million times over before I'd vote for Beltran. He's lucky he's not banned, like Rose or Shoeless Joe. He's a cheater.

I guess that depends which steroid guys.

I view Beltran and the other Astros as lesser cheaters when compared to someone like Alex Rodriguez, banned twice for steroids after the official policy was in place. The Astros are greater cheaters than all the earlier steroid users though.
