NFL Playoffs '24
Re: NFL Playoffs '24
OMG , everyone is "just a great guy" the fifteen minutes we spent with him, great guy, and of course it's not just football this great guy is teaching

My daughter in law has Chiefs in the same poll.
I absolutely love Tony Romo in the booth!
Remind me not to watch a Tony Romo game with metirish lololCan I just say Tony Romo is incredibly annoying, just incessantly talking, often something really insightful, often utter nonsense
Re: NFL Playoffs '24
Haha , that's the thing, Romo can be great at times, his overly enthusiastic approach for me though has worn thin
Re: NFL Playoffs '24
Is that who that was?
He reminded me of Fran Healey. Same tone of voice and he didn't shut up.

I am eternally grateful that Fran Healy is far, far, far in the rearview mirror.
Romo, yes, he's a mixture of insight and annoyance. But man, Buffalo, wide right again. The NFL is happy, though, because it's another week of women watching to get a glimpse of Taylor Swift.

Re: NFL Playoffs '24
He's really teaching life lessons, they're only disguised as football plays.
Actually it's college football telecasts that run that flag up the pole most often: 'He's more than a coach, he's an educator'
Remember when the staple of VH-1 was their 'list' shows, where at least half their programming day was some kind of pre-packaged list being ticked off
by some supposed pop-culture maven or D-list celebrity? The thing about them was that you didn't even have to watch the whole thing, simply by viewing
'Top 100 Heavy Metal Bands' from #s 40 down to 25 you'd hear at least seven different guys described as the best vocalist EVER!; at least six different
'Best. Drummer. Bar. None!; and god knows how many 'Greatest' guitarists on the planet. Stay tuned for the next hour and #s 25 to 10 and you'd hear
at least as many superlatives tossed about.
Well that's what NFL broadcasts remind me of sometimes. Each player singled out is described as being, at minimum, among the top players at his
position, if not the top right now. Every tight end, right tackle, free safety, special teams coach, water boy, film editor, it doesn't matter, the team
you're watching Right Now! has the top guy at each of those spots. And then you watch the later game and those teams also seem to have a
monopoly on guys headed for Canton.
It's like a variation of the Garrison Keillor line from 'Lake Wobegon' where 'all the children in town are above average'.
And don't get me started on Fran Healy, please.

Thoughts on the Game(s)!!!!
Game 1: So seeing as how Travis Kielce caught about 75 passes today, maybe Taylor Swift isn't the "distraction" or the Yoko Ono of
the KC Chiefs as several sports yakkers accused her of being in recent weeks.
Game 2: This was the ONLY important Detroit Lions game if not during my time here on earth (and I'm old) then at least since I was
able was able to tie my own shoes, and the best they could do after taking a 24-7 lead into halftime was to completely shit the bed?!?

Maybe for the politics thread, but Right Wingers are saying the Super Bowl is rigged so Taylor Swift can endorse Biden.

They are batshit crazy.Posobiec and Ramaswamy weren’t the only right-wingers to suggest Swift is part of a left-wing conspiracy. Trump sycophant Laura Loomer wrote on X that “the Democrats’ Taylor Swift election interference psyop is happening in the open… They are going to use Taylor Swift as the poster child for their pro-abortion GOTV Campaign.”

Here's a funny response to those conspiracy theories.
Did liberals put Taylor Swift and pro-vaccine Travis Kelce in the Super Bowl? Yes, we did.

Yup penalties and kickoffs are worthless. NFL doesn't want kick returns-- too many concussions. The other thing they need to change is more points for safeties -- I think we discussed that here already

Found my 2000 Mets yearbook in a cupboard yesterday…there’s a picture of toddler Patrick Mahomes swinging a bat on Family Day.
Adorable.
Adorable.

There's no Super Bowl swag that compares with a 2000 World Series hat.

I'm happy as a Jets fan at Super Bowl time, because I get to celebrate pass-over twice every year.

Character, grit and resiliency, words I've heard more in the last hour on CBS than I've ever heard
Re: NFL Playoffs '24
I don't usually care about football but I'm excited to watch Taylor Swift assume her final form today.

Pre-game shows are bad for your mental health.
I'm turning this thing on at 6:30 and not a minute earlier.

Juat turned it on, just in time for the first Taylor sighting.
