As you can tell by the youthful photos, these are three careers threatened to end before they seemingly have even begun. Campusano's story is particularly rough, as he is released having never recorded an official professional appearance on his ledger.

Jeisel Vargas had a bout as rough a debut as you can in imagine in 2022, recording but a lone single and no walks in 19 trips to the plate in the DSL, but he bounced back significantly in 2023, posting an .830 OPS in 36 plate appearances, but we have to guess there was a reason he was only given 36 plate appearances.

It's not clear how possible this is, but maybe the Mets hope to put off medical clearance on Diekman and Fujinami for another eight days. On February 14, players can again be placed on the 60-Day Injured List, and the team can store David Peterson and Ronny Mauricio there, allowing them to add the two new relievers without being forced to lose anybody.

a dynamic young arm that they can set loose on the opposition later in the season if they can get consistent performance from him in Syracuse.

The guy can throw 100 MPH. Maybe that will deter other teams from plunking Pete. The Mets had no 100 MPH pitchers in the pen last year.

I'm certain that has little to nothing to do with how many times Pete Alonso gets plunked.

If the fear of retaliation is what is going to keep you from throwing inside, the difference between retaliation at 99 and 101 miles per hour is pretty negligible, especially when it's not the pitcher who will be retaliated upon.

It's almost like a challenge trade as the Mets lose one journeyman lefty-hitting/righty-throwing slugger who plays first base when with poorer teams, but really is a DH for teams with options, who knows how to handle the stick, but is real picky, leading to low averages but high walk rates, who tries to keep the weight off but it always comes back, and they gain back another.

I like the lines around the yin-yang in the South Korean flag. They remind me of the cartoon motion lines that suggest the object in the center is vibrating.

I think this makes eight different flags in camp for the Mets, if you count the territorial Guam and Puerto Rico entitites as separate from the US.
