What's in Store for Twenty-Four?: Jorge López
Fun Fact! My nickname isn't "JoLo," as obvious as a tag as that might be. Folks call me "El Pichu." I believe the closest English approximation is "Cutie."
But man, send me in for a save, and I things got something less than cute. For a few appearances, my pitches had action, but were all over the place. You put me in for a save, though, and my pitches were over the plate, but straighter than Sean Connery's sexuality.
At least, that's the way it worked two nights ago, but (1) hey, we came out of it with a win, and (2) you can't draw too many conclusions from one night. I still have a 3.18 ERA. And that's in six games!! I'm currently sixth in the league in appearances!!
So, yeah, you're got a good enough look at me to draw a conclusion or two about what kind of season El Pichu is going to have. Call it!!

Funnier than George Lopez so far.
I actually got this guy as being my dark horse bullpen pick to click. 3-4, 3.77. Plenty of adventures but you'll be right there with him

That layout of him smiling with his name in goofy cartoonish font against the brick wall backdrop kinda makes him look like a comic, too.

He is one part of a pitching staff that has performed well thus far

A lot of nail biting performances in an increasingly important role, slowly edging out Adam Ottavino.

I don't know whether I should be optimistic or pessimistic about his performance in that save situation in Atlanta. He did pitch himself into trouble, but he also pitched his way out of it.

A throwback to the days of Doug Risk (Sisk)?Benjamin Grimm wrote: ↑Thu Apr 11, 2024 10:25 am I don't know whether I should be optimistic or pessimistic about his performance in that save situation in Atlanta. He did pitch himself into trouble, but he also pitched his way out of it.

Doug Sisk, though, didn't get himself into trouble by giving up deep drives. He got himself into trouble by walking people. He kept the ball on the ground.
Re: What's in Store for Twenty-Four?: Jorge López
I don't want to jinx anything because he has FAR exceeded my expectations so far. But I'll go 4-2, 5.04 ERA, 61 G. Mets fans will be clamoring that he be traded but the team will keep him the whole year.

Hoo boy, did he give a post-game interview. It's like he's trying to get fired.
Re: What's in Store for Twenty-Four?: Jorge López
Is not really clear what he means. He seems to be shitting on his team, but he also seems to be speaking in the past tense. Like the 2019 Royals or something.
Like, "I can handle being awful, because I've been there."
But he sure seems to be ready to get tossed over.
