He seems like he's always been been meant to be a White Sock.

He was one of those guys who owed big chunk of his playing time to the Mets' selloff at the end of July, getting called up shortly after they moved Eduardo Escobar and then pretty much playing everyday through August before getting optioned out when Brett Baty came back. The Mets spent a good part of August in shock and playing like it and he didn't help all that much, his only homer coming against a Cubs bullpen backender toward the tail end of a blowout.

It was his first year back from ACL surgery and he probably has a little more to offer than we saw. Also, he has a solid, close-clipped beard game.

Me neither, but I'll bet Fman made fun of his name.

Every time I saw his name, I thought of the play "Broadway Danny Rose."
And I have no reason why.

Who knows why these things happen?
Hope for the best. Expect the Mets.

Pitched in a game in which the Mets gave up 21 runs. Not a coincidence, given that it was 13-3 when he went to the mound for the ninth.
Hope for the best. Expect the Mets.

Had a good year here in Syracuse last year, .282 BA with 11 HR and an OPS just under .800 in 425 plate appearances. There was lots of Mendick enjoyment in my town

One of those off-season pickups that the smart set said was a crafty get, and I had bigger expectations.

Sort of like 2024's Tyrone Taylor

He might have been.

The problem with NRI-types is that you might get the right guy, but there's no telling when a window of opportunity is going to open for him, or how big it's going to be, and if he isn't clicking at that moment, the opportunity is lost.

On the other hand, Mendick had a month to try to stick, which is more than most get.

More like "meh"-mories. Of Danny "Meh"-ndick. Because that's what Mendick was..."meh." He rode the coattails of a .289 2022 to get 65 at-bats from NY in 2023. Born in the city of my birth, Rochester. Played alongside fellow western/upstate/Finger Lakes* New Yorker Tim LoCastro.

*(what defines the region seems to depend on who you ask)

Oh yeah, I forgot I started this thread.

Danny has homered twice (so far) in the current series against Syracuse (for Charlotte).
