What's in Store for Twenty-Four?: Grant Hartwig

Post by Edgy MD » Mon Apr 15, 2024 12:26 pm

I waited this long for a WiSf24? thread, and I'm still looking to break the seal on my 2024, so you might as well get your thoughts in.

I'm a Tommy John Surgery survivor out of the University of Miami with a dark piercing intensity, and an "I'm done with this shit" style of throwing, like a tradesman chucking his tools across the workshop in frustration. Growing restless following my surgery and the long COVID layoff, I put aside my baseball aspirations to pursue life as an orthopedic surgeon. A SURGEON!

But the Mets offered me a deal, and when the Mets come calling, you put everything else aside. So now I operate on hitters as I surgically dismantle their strike zone, with medical pursuits pushed back as long as I can successfully excise batters from opposing lineups.

How long will that be? How precise is my cutting? How steady my hands? Will I stay on the right side of the scalpel?

Lemme know, hotshots. Lemme know.

2-2 4.50 in 28 G
And, over his career, he will make more money as an orthopedic surgeon than he will make as a major league pitcher.

I have never insulted anyone. I simply describe them, accurately.

For me, those two numbers will likely be exactly the same.

32 G, 3.77 ERA, which will give us hope for next year. He'll do well enough to make the 2025 Opening Day roster, but have an ERA over 11 in April and be gone by May (of 2025).
