What's in Store for Twenty-Four?: Jake Diekman

Post by Edgy MD » Tue Apr 30, 2024 12:17 am

I'm sixth on the Mets in innings pitched out of the pen, but I'm only two outs short of being third. I'm 37 years old with a perfectly good chance of turning 38 in 265 days, and I'm the top lefthander and really the only trusted one with Brooks Raley getting his injuries seen to. Batters are only hitting .107 / .278 / .107 // .385 against me, but somehow that adds up to a 3.85 ERA.

Remember when Jerry Manuel used to whine about not having a second lefty in the pen? Well, we do. I'm that guy, except I'm the first guy now. I have the stuff to get everybody out too.

But stuff is stuff. The games still have to be played, and folks tell me that you've seen a lot of these games and know how it all rollls out.

How's it gonna roll out for me?

I hope he finds a way to get that baseball removed from the tip of his nose.
