IGT 05/28/24 -- LAD @ NYM -- Game One
Re: IGT 05/28/24 -- LAD @ NYM -- Game One
Bases loaded, 3-1 count, and Taylor watches it. And then the former batting champion fails again. Pathetic.

Let Nido bat or go to the suddenly heroic Narváez?

I'm not sure what you're advocating. But if you want to trade Megill for cash, I disagree.

The Alonso-Nimmo-McNeil-Diaz (and Nido) core has been together since 2019.
They're barely a .500 team.
Add Lindor and Marte to that core, and they're still barely a .500 team.
All these guys were supposed to make them winners.
They're not winning.

Especially since, like most situations with runners on, it reduces our run production.

Last year, they said they were building for 2025 and I guess they were right. Honestly, I'd trade Garrett and SRF now, while they still have value. DJ Stewart too, because his is quickly dropping as his OPS falls. Toss Narvaez for prospects and give the job to Nido and Hayden Senger/Matt O'Neill. Then ditch Nido at the trade deadline while they can still get something for him and by then Alvarez will be back I think. If the Mets aren't in it to win it, get rid of JD Martinez too, like they did with Verlander last year. He'd be worth something.

MLB could put the 10th inning runner halfway between 3d and home and the Mets wouldn't score.

And fire Mendoza.

Two of those failed DPs were on two-time Gold Glove Francisco Lindor.

The outs in the 9th & 10th innings, all with one or more runners on: K, PO, PO, K, FO, K
iow, ONE ball out of the infield, and not in a situation where it did us any good.
Oh yeah, FOUR hits thru 10 innings, three of them singles.

Mets are on pace to go 66-96.
That's the worst team since ...
1993.
This is the worst team money can buy.

Things were supposed to get better once the math-challenged Wilpons were replaced by the highly analytical Cohen regime.
Somehow, the hitting got even worse. I don't have any idea what the process is, but it's not working and hasn't been working for years.
