When was Cleon Jones born?
Wikipedia says he was born June 24, 1942, making his yesterday his 82nd birthday. Baseball-Reference, however, lists his birthday as August 4, 1942, suggesting he won't turn 82 for several weeks.
Fangraphs agrees with Baseball-reference, as does the UMDB, so I'm leaning that way. How reliable is Wikipedia, anyhow? A quick check of the back of his cards should confirm it.
.
Now, I'm close to back where I started.
Happy birthday whenever, cool guy.

The Mets From Mobile appendices say August 4, 1942. Agee was born
on August 9, 1942 - just for a fun extra-credit tidbit...

The first Mets game I ever attended was on August 4, 1971 and the scoreboard wished Cleon a happy birthday.
Re: 2182
Sounds like that 1967 card and Wikipedia are in the wrong.

Not to get off the Cleon Jones birthday topic, but my first game was August 16, 1964 so Fireworks Night #4 vs. the Marlins this year will be the 60th anniversary of that game (Mets beat the Phillies 12-4).
Re: 2182
His contract card says August 4, 1942. They sometimes fudged the years to appear younger, but the days of birth were usually right.
