Looks like Torrens gets a chance to carry the team this afternoon after all.

Diaz back out there. Fasten all the seatbelts you can find.

Totally a win.

Bader off the bench improved their defense and their offense and they cashed in that chip at both ends: good move.

Pulling Manaea after 89 pitches and six shutout innings, when outs are hard to find: bad move.

Pulling Nuñez with one out to go in the eighth: It felt like a bad move at the time, and it certainly broke bad, but he was shaky.

Going with Torrens over Taylor to pinch-hit in the ninth: Torrens is hot, and Taylor hasn't done much against lefties this year, and though the latter is probably an issue of small sample size, Torrens was going to have to enter the game anyhow after they pinch-ran for Álvarez. I'm going to call it the right move, but Torrens didn't look good going down looking at strike three right down the middle.

A very strategy-ish game. McNeil almost ended up playing three positions.

So here's the biggest question from that game: What the fuck was Manaea thinking as he was standing next to a stationary Ke'Bryan Hayes for about five seconds and about five feet off a 1st base, yet tagging him never seemed to enter his mind?

This is true even though he didn't give up any runs, as both of the 8th inning runs were charged to Nunez. So if the Mets had lost, Nunez would have gotten the loss, but Diaz would have gotten the blown save.

Nunez was credited with a hold.

Yup! He came in to protect the lead and didn't so that's a Blown Save. Whose runs they were doesn't enter into the equation.
That he was the pitcher when the Mets took the lead makes him the winner. But there's no way to claim both a S and a W.

The rules indeed prohibit it quite explicitly (9.19(b)).

I'd nonetheless advocate for the very rare exception possible for the pitcher who is the pitcher of record on the winning side, leaves the mound to play another position, and returns to pitch later in a save situation and finishes up.
