Yeah, this didn't lock in anything. We really need to know what the shooter's motives were. Right now, I'm glad that he wasn't black or brown, an illegal, an Arab, or a member of any Democratic campaign. Seemed normal enough to those he worked with. The FBI is treating it as 'domestic terrorism', so the question is, did he have help, and what were his reasons? Is he a Q nut? Is he a 'Sovereign Citizen' who doesn't believe in government at all? From the little we're getting, seems like this guy leaned more right than left. His father, whose gun he used, is a Libertarian.

Still a lot we don't know. A lot of people especially in the media are jumping to conclusions without all the facts. And of course, they can't talk to the shooter.

My wife has the theory that we've heard interviews with classmates that say the shooter was bullied daily in school.
So he finally snapped and decided to get revenge on the biggest bully of all.
It could all boil down to that, but none of the media will say it.

This is a tough and stunning situation for everybody to be in, with a lot of information unknown. It's somebody's job to craft a winning argument out of it, but I'm glad it isn't mine.

As for what I think of the theory that the kid was trying to kill the president for being a bully, I have no idea, and if I was a high-profile journalist, I'd stay away from speculation that could easily make me look foolish 24 hours later.

In fact, if I'm a high-profile journalist, the simple notion that this act is largely a product of our liberalized-gun-ownership culture would be a lot easier a position to take at this point than it would be for a politician.
