If Dems/Biden were smart, they would announce his withdraw an hour before Trump's speech tonight, steal his spotlight and put him on his back foot for the first time in weeks.
I do not believe they are smart enough for this.
they're morons. absolute imbeciles. The second worst people you can think of to vote for....
OK. I'll bite.
So who are the first worst people to vote for?

I think there is zero chance he resigns prior to the end of his term.
Withdrawing from the race is all about the future, and he could say things like, "I feel fine now, but I can sense I could start to decline at some point and want to be sure the country has the strongest possible leader in the Oval Office to deal with the challenges we face during the next four years."
Resigning the presidency means that he's not physically/mentally fit for the job right now. Because he can't come out and say he's resigning to put Harris in a more favorable position for the election. The only other president to resign did so in disgrace and there's no way Biden wants to be in that company. Plus, to say he's too unhealthy to continue serving now opens the door to people asking all kinds of uncomfortable questions about when the decline actually started and who in the administration/Congress/media was covering for him.
Just my 2 cents.

So what? What are they gonna do? Impeach Biden? I guess the only other choice is to vote for the psychopath who doesn't give a flying fuck about his voters, and especially you.

There is never zero chance.
It's perfectly fine and not disgraceful at all to say the office and the campaign are better off with my successor in charge.

Former president Barack Obama has told allies in recent days that President Biden’s path to victory has greatly diminished.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics ... viability/
What Obama is saying even though he didn't actually say it, is that Biden can no longer win Georgia or Arizona. Also, New Mexico and New Hampshire now appear to be in play. The current polls back this up.

When you've lost Obama........

Well, then it's going to be Kamala. There is no other choice. Voters selected the two of them, not any other fantasy candidate.
You'd need 1,990 delegates to revolt on the first ballot for anything else to happen. And at this point, it won't. Russian bots and Fox News will try to stir things up for one or two of the governors, but it doesn't make sense in the real world.
Whatever gets done, I'd like it to get done quickly. A month of the circular firing squad has been exhausting and demoralizing. Joe getting COVID was like the icing on the cake.

As a Republican, I'd be throwing a party at th shit show that has been the Democratic party since th debate... Then I remember our candidate is still Trump so I'm feeling a lot less festive.
Hulk Hogan is supposed to speak today? A fucking circus.

Time to take the car keys away from grandpa.
25th amendment time? "Incapacitation" is one of the reasons.
It may be the only way, since he's refusing to step down.

Unless he is dead or in a coma, getting rid of Biden
involuntarily is basically handing Trump a win and probably destroying the Democrats down ballot too if even 3% of Democrats who would have otherwise voted stay home because of it. He needs to agree to it.

It would be a stark contrast to the GOP. It would show that Democrats are willing to do what is good for the country, rather than what is good for one man(iac).

Some hypotheticals I've been thinking about...
Let's say Biden not only ends his candidacy, but also resigns to allow Harris to be an incumbent.
She'll then have the ability to fill the vacancy in the Vice Presidency.
I would think that she would choose her running mate for the 2024 election, but I suppose it's possible that she would appoint some elder statesman type as the VP while her running mate spends his or her time on the campaign trail. That would allow someone like Whitmer or Shapiro or whoever to run without giving up their position of governor. That might be less of an issue for Whitmer, who is in her second term and can't run for a third. Shapiro is still in his first time and may be hesitant to give up the gig for what may be only six months as VP.

I certainly see the advantage of appointing an interim, but a vice president appointed in the event of a vacancy has to be approved by the Senate just like any cabinet officer, no?
That may be one more reason to do it, of course. Spare the candidate the wasted time of sitting for hearings.

I just scanned a list of living former Senators, and one name that caught my eye as a possible interim VP is Claire McCaskill. Currently 71 years young. Served twelve years in the Senate representing Missouri.

Both houses apparently, unless they've changed things since the '70s.
Gerald Ford needed approval following Agnew's resignation. As a long-time Congressional insider he breezed through* although once he took
office his VEEP pick of Nelson Rockefeller had a tougher road** with much of the grilling being linked to his personal wealth and use of it.
* 92 - 3 in the Senate; 387 - 35 in the House
** 90 - 7 (several of the 'No' votes being conservative Republicans); 287 - 128

The 25th Amendment wrote:Whenever there is a vacancy in the office of the Vice President, the President shall nominate a Vice President who shall take office upon confirmation by a majority vote of both Houses of Congress.
Another flaw in the Constitution. A Speaker of the House can refuse to allow a vote on the nominee, thereby allowing himself to be the next in line to the White House.

And Ford and Rockefeller is a good example. Ford pretty much did what I'm suggesting Harris might do. He appointed Rockefeller as his VP but chose Bob Dole as his running mate in 1976.

Biden referred to his secretary of defense, Lloyd Austin, as "the black man" in an interview. Nothing to see here! 😭

If only the Democrats had the foresight to realize that their 77 y/o President would turn 81 during the run-up to his re-election attempt.
