I think they'd figured that out. My own guess was that he was going to serve two years and then hand it off to Kamala. But either way, I don't think very many people thought he'd run again.

My point is that none of this started with the most recent debate. Maybe about the fourth or fifth time Joe stated publicly about how son Beau died in Iraq the party should have gone to him and said, 'Joe, you did us a great service in 2020 but that doesn't mean you can win again and it's now time to move on'. Instead they chose to cover up and/or ignore his increasingly frequent gaffes and memory issues and did the same thing they did with crime and inflation and border issues: pretend it didn't exist. And now, only when his age issues were put on full display on national TV, did they start to scramble and wonder what they hell they're going to do to keep the orange pinhead out of the Oval Office. Except that now it might be too late even though they had four years to figure this all out.

If the election was about Trump, Democrats win. If the election is about Biden, Democrats lose.

Right now it's all about Biden, and it's going to stay that way, I'm afraid. The bell can't be un-rung.

Wouldn't it be nice to have a candidate whose best argument wasn't "I'm not the other guy?"

This is now finally off of the table -- for good. Maybe we can now go back to talking about just how out-of-his-fucking-mind the GOP candidate is. Nothing has ever energized Dem and liberal voters more than the mere presence of this monster in our politics. The psychopath hasn't won a single thing electorally and got his ass kicked in every single time ever since this country sleepwalked into letting him win once, eight years ago. Now who's the mentally diminished one? I can't wait for Kamala to play the age card, among many other cards she'll have, the whole deck pretty much.

This was the right decision. It cements Joe's legacy rather than slowly and painfully tearing it down.

I wouldn't be surprised at a significant Dem rebound through their convention.
