Memories of Tyler Jay

Post by G-Fafif » Sun Jul 21, 2024 3:59 pm

This quote on his looooong road to the majors just shy of his 30th birthday, re his infant daughters.
”They get to know Dad never quit, which means a lot to me. It definitely means more now than it did before.”
Hope for the best. Expect the Mets.

Heartwarming story.
I wish him the best.

Nameplate with the tiny letters on it looked way out of proportion

Seems like a pointless trade. Why not just keep Jay in the system. A 26-year-old at Double-A isn't too promising. Maybe they like Shook's decent K rate? He has a poor WHIP, though.

I remember when he first came up and was good, then he was bad.

They needed his roster spot, and he was designated for assignment. Trading him gave him more value in return than losing him through waivers.

He made it through his entire Mets tenure without ever hitting anybody with a pitch.
