I know I'm probably jinxing things, but I find it almost inconceivable that Atlanta is 21st in runs scored. They've scored one less run than Washington.

Their runs scored by month show a hot start, but they've been bad for nearly 3 months now.

March: 6th in runs scored
April: 11th
May: 28th
June: 21st
July: 22nd

Their pitching is still awesome. 3rd in ERA. Their pen is especially good. (2nd overall with a 2.95 ERA).

We see their top three starters this series. So it's gonna be a hell of an upgrade after facing that Yankee scrub last night.

Run prevention is as equally important as run scoring. The Braves lead the Majors in least runs allowed.

I missed it but is Zimmo hurt? He looked limpy doing his post-walk sprint to first last night then I think they had Gamel run for him

I'll reprint my quickie Braves KTE here from the Braves thread:

Braves coming to town for a four game set but, a bit like the Yanx, they’re not quite the team we’ve come to know in recent years.
Still a decent nine games over .500 but they’re five games under since posting their 26-13 high water mark in the middle of May.
Injuries have been the biggest culprit — currently three position starters plus two rotation starters — but also some of their guys simply
aren’t hitting up to their usual standards.
On the IL: 2B Ozzie Albies, CF Michael Harris, LHP Max Fried, RHP, Spencer Strider, RF Ronald Acuna, plus an assortment of relievers.

But in addition to the injuries ....
* 1B Matt Olson is hitting for a 688 OPS w/13 HRs [993 / 54 last year]
* SS Orlando Arcia: 577 OPS after 741 in ’23
* 3B Austin Riley (currently on paternity leave but should be back by Game 1 or 2): is down 100 OPS pts from his three straight top-10 MVP years
* C Sean Murphy (who missed two months early): 844 to 643
* Only Marcel Ozuna is having a career season: .311/.386/.594 w/28 HRs

So for now, Jerred Kelenic is playing everyday and in CF
They’ve re-acquired Eddie Rosario for LF and Adam Duvall for RF, and are using brief NYM Zack Short at 2B

Addendum:
Ignacio 'Nacho' Alvarez Jr. made his ML debut this week going 1 for 9 in two games while playing both 2B & 3B.
He's 21 y/o, a 2022 5th round pick out of a California JuCo who played rookie ball and high-A in '22. This season he
rocketed through AA in two months and AAA in a month and a half [.336/.432/.575] because ... because of course he did.
This is what Braves prospects do. Even the ones who aren't from super-premium draft positions.

I figured that Nimmo was just being pulled last night on account of the big lead, but that really is the B outfield group out there.

I'm sure DJ Stewart is thinking, 'Mendy finally gives me a start and it's against a nasty lefty like Sale'

It was the slowest time to first on a walk I'd ever seen from him.

Also would explain a little bit why he sucks all of a sudden

Maybe they'll wear Mercury Mets shirts on Saturday, 25th year anniversary and all.

I'm listening to Howie instead of watching the live stream. Howie is so much better than Gary Cohen.

Edgardo in the house can't be a bad thing.
