IGT July 29, Mets vs Twins - Bouncing back

Post by Marshmallowmilkshake » Mon Jul 29, 2024 7:57 am

Minnesota Twins, 58-46. The team is in second place in the AL Central, 4.5 games back and holders of the second wild card spot.

Tonight we get former Mets prospect Simeon Woods-Richardson, 3-1, 3.27 ERA, against Jose Quintana, 5-6, 4.02 ERA.

Twins are good. They have nice new uniforms. Some of their players have been rolling their pants up above the knee, which I don't get. I've actually seen then in person twice this year, first in Arizona and then on Saturday against the Tigers. They lost both. Carlos Correa and his questionable ankle finally gets to play at Citi.

Picking Prince as our musical representative of the Twin Cities would be too obvious. We get the Replacements. I like this song a lot. I tried to get into the Replacements once. But this is the only song I ended up really liking.

Splitting with the Braves was disappointing after winning the first two. But if we had won, say, the first and last games instead of the first two, people would be happier.

Former Mets signing Simeon Woods-Richardson takes the Hill for the Twins

He has been traded for Marcus Stroman and Jose Berrios in his career

The Twins recently promoted IF Brooks Lee. Many believe he can become a special player

By the numbers the Mets are 3 1/2 back of the Twins

I'll take a wild guess and say "Simeon Woods-Richardson" .

It's missing an Álvarez factor, but that's a good lineup. If Henry Winkler can hold down that Number Five spot, we might have a sturdy cast.

These are very important games

The Mets could go from wild card 1 to looking in from the outside in a blink

I read (SNY?) that Alvarez is nursing a sore shoulder (didn't say which one) and they're going to reduce his workload for a while.

It's raining sheep and oxen here in Baltimore. All the rain we haven''t had in the last eight weeks is coming down at once.

What's with this new insignia the Twins are rocking? Are they the North Stars, now?

They hit most everything hard the last inning.

The softest hits were the ones that dropped in.

Good for Gary noticing Simeon's missing hyphen. I was wondering the same thing.

Jeff McNeil would like you to become a seller. Of yourself. On Queens Boulevard.

They didn't exactly knock the cover off the ball that inning (except for Pete) but they made consistent contact and kept the line moving.

Great inning, not just the clutch hits, but also the two productive outs by Nimmo + Martinez. That's what winning teams do.
