The Marlins wished they looked this good.

I kinda like the Twins new uniforms, especially the Twin Cities alt set. The City Connect cap is really cool. The rest of the CC uniform is a little too busy.

Here's an article about the whole set: https://uni-watch.com/2022/11/18/minnes ... -for-2023/

I went to see a game a few years back at Target Field and loved it. I adopted the Twins as my American League team. Sorry Tigers.

The problem is that interwoven, two-tone is pretty much the most inscrutable-and-yet-beguiling hat display in the game. Kids everywhere have become smarter and better people asking questions and learning answers about that insignia.

Meanwhile, Quintana has me wanting to join Q-Anon. Where do I sign up?

The interlocking TC is really cool. They kept it for the home and Twin Cities uniforms with slight modifications.

It's 11-1. Please get Bader out of there. It's Gamel Time.

The M hats look dumb to me. And there's really nothing special about the
uniforms they're wearing to tonight. Ok, at best.

Meanwhile the Mets have scored 11 through 6. Blowouts on a Monday night
are the cats pajamas if one is feeling inclined to maybe dose of a little....

Wow. Jeffers was halfway to third before he realized that was caught.

Everyone in the lineup is in the hit column today, including both of the rightfielders the Mets have deployed.

Leading 10 runs is a very odd time to be using a key bullpen weapon (Butto).

With Gamel reaching, that's 11 Mets in the hit column.

I imagine that's not a record, because teams carry decidedly fewer hitters than they used to, but it's cool that 100% are on the knock list.

After two straight losses, they've got to get some of their better assets some work.

They'll probably debut Gage tonight, but we might also see Diaz.

Howie speculating (and I agree) this may be part of stretching Butto out for a return to the rotation.

It was actually Gelbs introducing the stretching-out thesis. And yeah, makes some sense.

As for position-player-pitchers, like you, Matt Wallner, you're a grown-up athlete, man. Throw like it.

You pitched in college, for Pete's sake. Your folks could be watching.

I'm glad I was able to shame Wallner into throwing two fastballs.

Didn’t mean to shortchange Steve. Only listening via radio here so either Howie came up with it independently or needs to a better job with attribution.

Or maybe they both knew. But thanks either way, because when I first read your skeptical posts about Butto's appearance today, I was convinced that Mendoza had lost his mind, had no plan whatsoever, and was throwing darts at a poster of Jeff Wilpon to figure out who his next pitcher would be.

Now this would have been a good game for Diekman.

Good show. It might well have been independent. Probably was. I was thinking you were referring to Cohen, for some reason.

Back within a half game of the Braves tonight.

Also pull within nine games of the Phillies, who got pantsed by the Yankees.

It is a rare occasion that I attend two Mets games in less than a week's time, but there I was again on Monday evening, making the trek out to Citi once again. My kids wanted to go this time, so I grabbed the $100 deal where you get four tickets, four hot dogs, four pretzels, and four sodas. Tickets were in the promenade, but had a good view of the entire field. My oldest daughter was sick, so my younger daughter's boyfriend joined us, as well as my 18-year old twins. To see the Mets and Twins!

We got there a little later than we did on Thursday, but no worries, everyone got a plain-clothed Francisco Lindor bobblehead doll. I never quite understand why they don't order enough for everyone in attendance to get a doll. Before we went to our seats, we stopped in the memorabilia shop. I wanted to show my kids the bats they could hold "You mean Pete Alonso was holding THIS bat?" They liked it as much as I did. We made it up two escalators to our seats in Section 520. The crowd on Monday night was more relaxed than the one on Thursday; understandable as this was not a division rival, and a team that many were not familiar with. It was a little frustrating watching the Mets give up the first run of the game, and then go silent for three innings. But things would soon take a big turn.

I've been going to at least one Mets game a year (except for pandemic years) and had never seen Pete Alonso hit a home run. That streak was snapped as he hit the snot out of one that bounced off the second deck starting the fourth inning. That was the beginning of the inning that would see the Mets score six runs, a welcome sight after the past two games where they were starving for runs.

But the rout was on early. Fans were joyfully following the action, as opposed to Thursday when we were on the edge of our seats for most of the game. There surprisingly was a good number of Twin Cities shirts and caps in the stands but they were mostly silent for the game. Fans gave Jesse Winker a warm hand, as well as congratulations for his first hit as a Met.

Speaking of Jesse's, a fan whiffed on the mid-inning trivia game centered around the Mets-Twins. Who was traded for Jerry Koosman? I thought everyone knew it was Jesse Orosco (last out 69 for last out 86). Fan chose Jeff Reardon. Boo.

Another first for me--I had never seen a position player pitch in person. Scratch that one off the list. 44mph on the radar! Also, a PA announcement we haven't heard in some time in the top of the 8th "Now batting, the pitcher...."

Because it was a blowout, not everyone stayed till the end. We did, and happily got up out of our seats and down the steps to the exits. A few LETS GO METS chants were going on. Walking to the car was a breeze, and getting out this time took less than three minutes. I don't keep track of these things, but it might have been a record for me for quickest time home. A no-stress evening at the park!
