Trump Cancels a Debate With Harris on ABC News and Pitches One With Fox News Instead

Mr. Trump said in a social media post that the previously scheduled presidential debate to be hosted by ABC News was “terminated” once President Biden dropped out of the race.

Excerpt:

“Donald Trump is running scared and trying to back out of the debate he already agreed to and running straight to Fox News to bail him out,” Michael Tyler, the communications director for the Harris campaign, said in a statement. “He needs to stop playing games and show up to the debate he already committed to on Sept 10.”

Mr. Tyler said that the Harris campaign was open to discussing further debates if Mr. Trump honored his commitment to the ABC debate.

“Mr. Anytime, Anywhere, Anyplace should have no problem with that unless he’s too scared to show up on the 10th,” he said.

It’s unclear whether ABC News will attempt to go ahead with its debate, giving time only to Ms. Harris. In a post on X on Saturday, Ms. Harris said: “I’ll be there on September 10th, like he agreed to. I hope to see him there.”

Mr. Trump responded on his social media platform with an ultimatum: “I’ll see her on September 4th or, I won’t see her at all.”

Good for Kamala! She says she'll be there at the already agreed upon ABC debate and has not yet agreed to the FOX debate. I wouldn't do FOX either, if I was her. That network is a National disgrace and has zero journalistic integrity and I wouldn't trust it to not give Trump the questions ahead of time so that he can prepare the best responses possible. He's a fucking serial cheater who can't play on a level playing field and that network is the lowest of the low, as responsible for the terrible political problems that exist as any politician or political group.

Well, then, I need to read graph titles.

There is a scenario where a third candidate can win. He or she just has to flood the zone in one small state. If that state somehow goes to him or her, and neither of the major-party candidates win the majority of the electoral college, the vote goes to the House of Representatives, who can pick any of the candidates who held electoral votes, even one who just won a single state with three electoral votes. A split House could, in theory, compromise around this minority candidate.

And yeah, even with this scenario theoretically possible, RFK, Jr. has 0.0% chance, because he's just ridiculous. It was more plausible (if still highly unlikely) back in 2016 when Evan McMullin was polling unusually high in Utah.

Harris' numbers are looking better by the week (for what polls are worth). She's at least trending in the right direction. I think her best bet is to continue to be the grown up in the room and present that a a contrast to a wound up old crook who doesn't make any sense. I can't see how he lures anyone to his side that isn't already on it at this point.
