Those '88 O's, who were already on their second manager before the streak was even half over, ended the streak with a 9-0 win against ... the White Sox.Benjamin Grimm wrote: ↑Tue Aug 06, 2024 9:19 am The White Sox have now lost 21 consecutive games.
This ties the season-opening streak that the Orioles suffered through in 1988.
In modern (since 1900) history, only one team has had a longer losing streak; the 1961 Phillies lost 23 in a row.
They then dropped to next two games in that series.
From 0-21 they went on to go 54 - 86 (.388) to finish at 54 - 107 (.335)
The '61 Phils won the back half of a DH on July 28th. Prior to that they had lost five straight and were already 29-59 before that mini-streak started.
They didn't win again until Game 2 of a DH on August 20, so that's 23 straight (and 28 of 29) between DH splits including three DH sweeps in between.
They went on to record a 47-107-1 record (.305) in the final year of the 154 game season.
