Pray for Zimmo

I think he's been playing hurt since the ASB. Killing us most nights out there, and he's really the Guy who makes the team go.

In the past, when Nimmo has blown steamy chunks, he still can be counted on to get his walks. But he's kind of traded love for glory, and forsaken his foundational skill for more extra-base power.

That looked gorgeous for a few weeks there, but now that the extra-base hits aren't coming, and the foundation has been unmade, it's hard to justify him being out there at all.

I'm afraid a similar thing may be happening with Jeff McNeil and his foundational skills, but he was in the wilderness so long that he had to remake himself.

I'm thinking maybe McNeil needs to be bumped up to Nimmo's two-hole. Whether or not you're gonna keep Brandon in the lineup every day, bat him eighth or ninth for a few games. Every failed at-bat of his seems to arrive at (and sink) the faintest hint of a rally, so he's trying to straighten his shit out under a huge weight. He comes up empty and the Mets seemingly don't get another chance for three innings.
