Those one-side only phone conversations were one of Newman's stand-up/comedy record specialties.
The baseball one wasn't even the best of them.

Just because you no longer play Bob Hartley doesn't mean you have to stop practicing clinical psychology.

Man, you sink yourself when you spend the first 60 seconds of your video on establishing a narrative before the music starts. Springsteen and Madonna were able to get away with that, but you're not there, Greg Kihn.

Hey, speaking of Springsteen!

Tito, the only Jackson who never released a solo album, but totally would have killed if he had.

Hey, I take this back. Teets finally got an album out in 2016. His sons had been pushing him, though they're sort of a lazy pop band themselves.

The best Roy Oribison record that's not actually a Roy Orbison record.

Yup. Roy Orbison does, as we all know, sing for the lonely.
Souther also did the arrangements for (and performed on) 'Roy Orbison and Friends: A Black and White Night'* concert (1988), a tribute to the then still living Orbison that ran originally on Cinemax and often since on PBS.

* Bruce Springsteen, k d lang, Elvis Costello, J. D. Souther, Bonnie Raitt, Tom Petty, Cropper and Dunn, Tom Waits, Jackson Browne, Jennifer Warnes
It's a terrific show if you haven't seen it.
