2024 - Success?

What would it take to consider 2024 a success?

Meaningful games in September. It's already been a success!

2024 - Success?

Post by Centerfield » Tue Sep 17, 2024 6:15 pm

Inspired by the other thread, considering the modest expectations coming into 2024, how far to the Mets have to go in order to consider 2024 a successful year?

Same standard I’ve used since 1995: a successful season is a trip to the division series.

I usually am content with whatever they achieve. (I can say that because I picked them to miss the playoff in the pre-season prediction thread.)
But since they look like they will make the playoffs, why not go all the way?
And, I think the MFYs will be in the WS for the AL.
So what could be better than winning it all by beating THEM?
There are only so many miracles, why not a biggie?
WS champs or bust!

It's a winning season in a year they weren't expecting to win.

It's been more than a success.

The 2022 fudge fest of a wild card round makes me think the same. Get farther, do better

To be clear, I thought 2022 was a magical season and had tons of fun. But the success standard remains the same even if MLB keeps diluting things.

13 out of 15 Cranepoolers now deem this season a success.

(Channeling Fmann)
I'm sure all you folks who will be satisfied if they don't go all the way and win the World Series are happy when you pull out early.

Hey, getting it in there in the first place is a measure of success! (Ask any 13-year-old boy.)

It is so long since I've been 13 I forgot.
