I wonder how much say the Braves organization had in the neutral site decision. I'm guessing you can't deprive a club of its ticket revenue without their consent. If the Braves were the roadblock, they'll be rewarded potentially three consecutive rainouts, and possibly doubleheaders on Saturday and Monday before potentially starting a wild card series on Tuesday.

I'm hoping they have to throw Sale and Fried on Saturday and Schwellenbach on Sunday. Would serve them right.

The Commissioner has broad “best interests of baseball” powers and MLB can easily make Atlanta financially whole. This is entirely a MLB decision.

I know that MLB fields drain well, and there is a tarp on the infield, but doesn't there come a point where the rain is so intense that the field is just not safe to play on? Outfielders need to start and stop too.

For reasons of business, logistics and perhaps gamesmanship, the Braves did not want to shift start times, days or locations for their series against the Mets despite forecasts that make it iffy to play Wednesday night and even less likely to play a three-game series finale Thursday night.

Wednesday’s scheduled 7:20 p.m. ET game is still set to be played, as of early afternoon, though it is pouring in the area.

If they don’t play 2 games by end of day Thursday, I will be rooting hard for the scenario in which the Mets clinch and those games otherwise matter, and the Mets tell MLB they refuse to return to Atlanta.

Yeah, if the Mets have stamped their ticket to the postseason, they'll want the day off on Monday to rest up for Tuesday. I think the thing to do in that case would be to forfeit the game to Atlanta. Or, if roster maneuverability allows, send as many players as possible who won't be on the postseason roster and let them go through the motions.

But background conversations with involved personnel indicated that basically the Braves were expecting large attendance for the three games (it was 40,103 at Truist Park for Tuesday’s series opener, won, 5-1, by Atlanta) and did not want to forego the gates nor work through the logistics of moving personnel such as security, concessionaires, etc. to other dates or start times.

In other words, it was the Braves, just as I had suspected. MLB had the authority to step in, but because it's about money, they let the Braves do what they wanted.

Fuck all of them.

And not for nothing, if you're a Braves fan, you're pissed as well. Assuming they don't play again until Friday, they'll get only one more start this year from Sale/Fried. Neither will be available for a DH on Monday, and neither will be available for Game 1 of a WC series that starts Tuesday.

If they make the postseason, they'll play 5 games in the 4 days leading up to it, leaving them potentially no pitching for Game 1 of the WC series.

Plus, Lindor will be (hopefully) healthier on Monday than he would be today/tomorrow.

Atlanta fans didn't want this either.

I saw Snitker suggest that in a press conference but that seemed to me as uniformed speculation. Atlanta airport has lots of arrivals as normal today. KC played in Washington this afternoon and is currently scheduled to get to Atlanta at 6:30:
