When somebody has been typecast for decades as witches, crones, hags, and dowagers, it makes me doubly sad when she dies, because now some other actress — who entered the profession years ago because she was the belle of every ball and lit up every room she entered, causing people to exclaim "You should be an actress!" — is about to get a bittersweet second wind in her career, as she fills the void and gets typecast as witches, crones, hags, and dowagers.

I just assumed, when I read my brother posting the news, that his heart gave out, as the hearts of big men tend to do. I hadn't known he was ill.

We just had a Good Times 50th Anniversary reunion at our central library. The "reunion" included all of two cast members (BernNadette Stanis and Jimmie Walker). I still wanted to go, but my wife was all "If Janet Jackson can't be bothered, neither can I. Bitch."

John Amos was a villain you really couldn't hate in Die Hard 2 because we rememberede him for being a good guy in other roles.

He was great in many things, my kids will certainly remember him as Cleo McDowell in "Coming to America" but I liked him best from the cheesy 80's movie "The Beastmaster." Also good on Good Times and Roots and a bunch of other things

Amos died of natural causes in Los Angeles on August 21, 2024, at the age of 84. His death was not announced until October 1, 2024.[30][31] His daughter, Shannon did not know that he had died until it was reported by the media.[32
