Senga will start Game One. Whoa.
Severino in Game Two.
Daddy called this.
And I wasn't even really serious.

Any chance Baty gets a roster spot over Acuna this round?
Are you hoping for that to happen? I'm not. If the Mets were to miss the playoffs this season, I woulda laid most of the blame on Baty. That guy is in my Mets doghouse.

At this point anyway, I'd much rather have Acuna on the roster than Baty.
Senga and Megill will replace Kranik and... Brazoban maybe?

I'd be happy to see 'em both.
But obviously, Acuña's versatility, fungibility, athleticism, and (frankly) productivity speak for themselves.

I think Baty only makes the team if Winkers back is bad.

I wonder if Senga is a 2-3 inning opener with Megill coming in after that for game 1?

that's what you'd expect.
What a piece of news. This team isn't done with the surprises

For all we know, he's been secretly pitching stimulated games for two weeks and is summat stretched.
I sincerely doubt it, but the last unlikely thing I suggested has come to pass, so I'm not gonna doubt Santa Claus again.

So you figure if Senga can get stretched out a little in Game 1, he'd be ready for hopefully a normal-ish start if it goes 5. I'm down.

Ballsy move throwing Senga into game 1. Have to assume he goes 3-4 innings at most, so they'll need a guy to hand the baton to. I'm guessing Megill.
This could work great or blow up in their faces. But a fascinating twist.
Even duct tape can't fix stupid. But it can sure muffle the sound.

Im just guessing here, obviously, but I think that the Mets have been keeping Senga's progress under wraps, maybe even to the point of being misleading and that they think he's now healthy enough to give them five or six innings. It's a short series and the loser goes home so the value of each individual game is that much more magnified. Given this, I doubt that the Mets would open with a bullpen game. Not now.

Also, if Senga is pitching the opener, maybe that means that he'd also pitch the decisive fifth game if it goes there. This sure does sound like the Mets are putting a lot on Senga's plate. But he's supposed to be their best pitcher and don't forget, it wasn't his throwing arm that he hurt last Summer.

One other thing worth noting about the Senga ketsudan — he may have only thrown 5 1/3 innings this season, but that was 5 1/3 innings of two-run/two-hit/nine-strikeout/one-walk ball against these same Philadelphia Phillies.

Braves, but we hate both teams.
