NYY/KCR IST Thread
Royals lead 5-4 heading to bottom 6
Yanx should either have a lot more runs or fewer depending on how you want to look at it. .
- in the 1st they had 2nd & 3rd w/no outs and didn't score.
- they later loaded the sacks w/no outs and scored twice but that whole inning was gift-wrapped: BB,1B, BB, BB, PO, GO (force at home), BB, 3rd out
Cole: 5 IP, 4 R (3 ER), 7 hits

6-5 Yanx, top 8th.
And I had forgotten that Pa & Ma Pinstripes are together again.
John Sterling, after saying upon his retirement that he'd never return to the mic, has returned to the mic and is re-paired with Suzyn to the delight of .. dozens.

Re: NYY/KCR IST Thread
Royals up 3-1 in the 4th , Rodon was all pumped up like a tool in the first strutting around after getting three outs, just got pulled , clown

4 - 1 KCR, heading for bottom 9
Yanx have just three hits but have had multiple chances thx to about 75 walks.
Been a bullpen game for both sides since about the 4th.

5 - 3, 2 outs
Jon Berti (yeah that p.i.t.a. who used to drive us nuts when with the Marlins) singles.
Single Berti, so tying run at plate ... but he GOs and it's a 4 - 2 KCR win!!!

At some point Judge has to break out right? Hopefully not this year though
Re: NYY/KCR IST Thread
And I've only ever heard Salvatore Perez being called by that name , yet Bob Costas was calling him Sal Perez all night

Down 2-0 in the 5th, Royals get a two out single followed by a double then a triple to tie it up.
Clarke Schmidt out as the yanx go to their pen.

Yeah, they always had good home unis.
Couldn't push any more runs in there, so it goes to the 6th tied.
Not sure I could stand that much happiness in one night if the Yanx go down here ... but I'm willing to take the risk.

I dunno, I kind of want the Royals to beat the stupid Yankees. But I also kinda selfishly want to have the MFYs fall to the Mets in the World Series this year because that would be the ultimate championship vanquishing.
Really as long as the Yanquis lose it's good

Yanx win 3-2
Giancarlo had a 1B, 2B, HR, two RBIs, and, shockingly, a SB

TBS are awful at baseball, some of the camera work etc looks dreadful ,and Costas is the cherry on top ,maybe TBS thinks they are appealing to an older nostalgic crowd with him? I'm enjoying the FS1 in game with Adam and AJ, although the pbp Adam could be better, his HR calls have been good though

I find Wainwright + Pierzynski to be insufferable quite honestly. Sucks that Ron Darling is on the AL network and not the NL one. The pre/postgame slots with A-Rod, Ortiz & Jeter are pretty rough too. Kevin Burkhardt got dealt some bad cards. I think A-Rod is all right from an analysis perspective but Big Papi and Jeter really don't have anything to say.metirish wrote: ↑Thu Oct 10, 2024 8:14 am TBS are awful at baseball, some of the camera work etc looks dreadful ,and Costas is the cherry on top ,maybe TBS thinks they are appealing to an older nostalgic crowd with him? Oh I definitely don't watch any of the pre or post game , SNY for that

Something was bothering me about these threads. Besides my first instinct in reading "IST" as "First." Then I realized, isn't "IST Thread" redundant?

Re: NYY/KCR IST Thread
Jeter was blowharding it about how the Phillies were sure to win the series. I love baseball analysis. I love it that there are 250 different ways now from here to China to try and figure out just how good Francisco Lindor might be. I don't mind it that the modern stats are so complicated that hardly anybody truly understands them and you need a Ph.D in math these days to approach them and that nobody can calculate them in their heads anymore. I don't mind it that some of these stats are so opaque, that you have to take a leap of faith and simply trust that the new stats have been properly vetted over the years so that they're reliable. I don't mind any of this because I see that as progress and modernism. But when they start blathering about who's gonna fucking win tomorrow's game with all of the certainty of some cocksucker who secretly stole the answers to tomorrow's test, that's when I wanna strangle them. Because they don't know shit and I don't give a flying fuck that Jeter has a plaque of himself hanging in Cooperstown with his mug embossed on it while I wasn't good enough to hit my way onto my High School baseball team. They don't know shit. That's when I wanna turn down the volume on my TV to zero and stuff a CD of Led Zeppelin II into my player and rock the volume so loud that my ears explode and my neighbors have to call the cops on me. Do these know-it-alls ever run the tape back to show us how fucking wrong they always are?
