Has anybuds seen any indication that former-Congressmember Santos was referring to ... anything at all?

So much for "democracy dies in darkness," as the WaPo turns the lights off. I am glad I've been evading their paywalls for the last ten years to read their content. Turns out it was all a big snow job

We went through a process of conscious disentanglement from Amazon about two years ago. We called it un-Bezing.

The only transaction we've made through them in the last six months has been a digital rental of The Next Karate Kid (1994). What an embarrassing reason to fall off the un-Bezing wagon.

The Post was damn good during the 1st Trump presidency but they've lost a lot of their bite since then, as well as some talent

Lost it largely by letting go of staff and developing AI to take over.

Lots of fallout in the last few hours.
  • Robert Kagan, a longtime Post columnist and editor-at-large in the opinion department has resigned in protest.

  • A group of 11 Washington Post columnists co-signed a one-paragraph protest column condemning the decision. These include Pulitzer-winner Eugene Robinson and former deputy editorial page editor Ruth Marcus.

  • Longtime columnist Jen Rubin (one of the signatories to the above), whose column used to be called "Right Turn" as she was one of the three designated right-of-center editorialists, but has been their leading Never-Trump op-ed voice the last eight or nine years, is under intense pressure to resign on Twitter, after having sent Mariel Garza a digital high five for her resignation earlier in the week.

  • Conspicuously absent from that group is George F. Will, who is likely one of the only members of the paper's op-ed staff whose career dates back to the last time they didn't publish an endorsement.

  • Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein, who rarely work together any longer in their doddering years (and who could keep up with Woodward anyhow?), have issued a joint statement:

Early voting in my county opened yesterday. I voted in the afternoon - there were ten voting places open in my county, any of which I was allowed to use. I picked one on the north side of Syracuse - not the best neighborhood, but this also made for a very short wait. They had four people signing voters in and I was fifth in line.

My son also sent in his absentee ballot this week. Fwife will vote today, I think.

Of course Donnie Draft Dodger is holding a really today at Madison Square Garden.
He's following in the footsteps of the Bund meetings in the 1930's that had many pro-Nazi speakers.

I cat my vote against tyranny yesterday.

With so much more at stake

I drove by the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections today to vote and was heartened to see a line that stretched for close to a quarter mile. Kamala's not going to win here, but we have the country's closest Senate race.

In Ohio, the only place to vote early is the county's BoE, so no alternative spots.

I'll come back tomorrow and cast my vote.

Remember how the Post had temporarily cooled on Trump? When his announcement he was running again simply referred to him as "Florida Man"?

We made fun of Jews, blacks and spics in 6th grade at my
very white middle school. Then, ya know, by 8th grade we all
grew up... It's hard to watch the news. So draining.

So depressing that our country lops this SHIT up like it's sugar.

It just occurred to me, and this can all be split off into
another thread if need be, that there was this show on
in the 70's that had this blue collar guy named Archibald
Somethingorother and he blamed all the country's worries
on the Jews, blacks and spics. He had a mooching son-in-
law that lived with him named Meatface or whatever and
they argued and argued and argued about everyone and
everything. It was quite comical. And groundbreaking.

They lived in Queens, they both were Mets fans.

Around 1977 I realized that Meatface was exponentially
smarter than Archibald. Great show, can't remember the
name or the names of the other characters...

Saw clips of the MSG event. There is just no bottom.

Conservative or not, I can't see how good, decent people can support this.

Because they've cornered the market on the morons of America. Apparently, there's a lot of them.
