Canning stymied us in Anaheim in August. Revenge will be ours up to four times next year.
Hope for the best. Expect the Mets.

Soler was kind of a disappointment with the Giants. Had a .749 OPS in the first year of his contract. They traded him to Atlanta where his OPS immediately jumped 100 points higher.

Which more or less proves my theory that the Braves are cheating.

I don't know if Griffin Canning is any good, but if it is, that means that the Braves would have gotten a half-season of Soler for nothing, then traded the rest of his contract for a useful piece. I hate Atlanta.

Don't forget about the first time Soler was with the Braves (2021) where his ATL OPS in 242 PA was 224 points above his 360 PAs of KCR OPS (882 to 658)
after acquiring him in a trade deadline deal. But at least the Braves had to give up the immortal Kasey Kalich* in order to get him.
Oh yeah, and he was their World Series MVP that year [6/20 including 3 HRs and a 2B]

* Spoiler Alert: he never reached the majors

MLB Trade Rumors put up its list of 35 trade candidates. A couple of very random thoughts:

I'd be curious to see if that one pitch to Alonso tanks Devin Williams' value -- and if the Mets would be the quickest team to forgive him for it.

I'd trade a year of Starling Marte for a year of Jordan Montgomery.

Crochet just strikes me as an overpay waiting to happen.

Sonny Gray is intriguing because he is a very good pitcher who is not worth the $35M he is owed for next season. He also has a no-trade clause, but the Cardinals are intent on rebuilding and he might accept a deal to a sure-fire contender. I could see him going to a team willing to take the contract if they don't have to throw in players of value.

Yandy Diaz strikes me as a buy-low opportunity if things don't work out with Alonso.

Luis Arraez played with a bad thumb that appeared to compromise his power (not that he had much to begin with) and possibly his glove (he was above average at 2B before this year), and he still won a batting title. Not sure he's a fit here, but if the Padres are dumping salary I'm checking in.

Wilyer Abreu is a platoon player, but he's a better-than-you-think platoon player in case RF is not solved elsewhere.

I'd ask about Mullins and Bellinger for CF, but something tells me I won't like the price.
