From the Department of Don't you fucking tell me that I can't compare the orange madman to Hitler jusr because the madman hasn't committed mass genocide yet:

Don’t scoff at the Hitler comparisons. Trump’s rhetoric is that bad.

Words have power. If not wielded responsibly, they can lead to political violence.

Excerpt:
There’s a semisatirical theorem, known as Godwin’s Law, which posits that if any online discourse goes on long enough, it inevitably leads to a Hitler or Nazi comparison. No professional pundit wants to be guilty of tripping this law.

After all, equating a political figure with fascists sounds absurd. It’s just so over the top. It also might not win over any additional allies; people roll their eyes and tune out when they hear commentators or historians warn, yet again, about another big bad Great Dictator.

Problem is, Donald Trump seems intent on making the Hitler comparison happen.

Also, it's not Mark Robinson's latter-day life has distinguished him from the guy who made those comments.

The guy is off.

There's an old saying "A person is known by the company he keeps" and Donny has been keeping company with Nazi-types for years. I certainly don't shy away from making that comparison.
Never have.
Never will.

He said the other day that he would deport immigrants "by their numbers". I remember seeing the numbers tattooed on the arms of some old neighbors when I was a kid.
I'm getting scared.

He's not the only sleezebag in his family:
Jared's private equity firm is an influence peddling scam:
A private equity firm owned by Jared Kushner, Donald Trump’s son-in-law, has been paid $157m in fees since 2021 without returning any profit to investors, according to a US Senate inquiry.

The finding from the Senate finance committee has fuelled suspicions that the Miami-based company, Affinity Partners, may be a foreign influence-buying operation established in anticipation of the former president returning to the White House.

Well, that's the rub. There are hundreds of influence peddlers he's surrounded himself with. The promise to drain the swamp was really about taking over with a far more ridiculous swamp monster. There's a screaming amount of evidence in plain sight that his people are openly selling access to the president for a set price.

I always suspected that those Saudi investments with Kushner weren't really Investments-- but a slush fund. In the end, Kushner would use all kinds of accounting tricks not available to regular people to get his hands on all of that Saudi money for his personal use -- and tax free, too.

Trump kicked off a Pennsylvania rally by talking about Arnold Palmer's genitalia.
“Arnold Palmer was all man, and I say that in all due respect to women," Trump said. "This is a guy that was all man.”
Then he went even further.
“When he took the showers with other pros, they came out of there. They said, ‘Oh my God. That's unbelievable,'” Trump said with a laugh. “I had to say. We have women that are highly sophisticated here, but they used to look at Arnold as a man.”
The guy has totally lost it. But if FOX and Newsmax keep editing his sound bytes, none of his followers will ever learn of it.

I don't know what they're including, but I'm not particularly sure that would discourage more voters than it would encourage.

Did not have 'Arnold Palmer's penis' on my election bingo card.

They also started chanting 'C**T, C**t, C**t' at the mention of Kamala's name.

Hillary was right about the whole deplorables thing.

Just when you think that fucking draft dodger can't go any lower - he does.
He got mad at the cost to bury a dead soldier and insulted the soldier's heritage and refused to pay the bill as he had promised.:
According to attendees, and to contemporaneous notes of the meeting taken by a participant, an aide answered: Yes, we received a bill; the funeral cost $60,000.
Trump became angry. “It doesn’t cost 60,000 bucks to bury a fucking Mexican!” He turned to his chief of staff, Mark Meadows, and issued an order: “Don’t pay it!” Later that day, he was still agitated. “Can you believe it?” he said, according to a witness. “Fucking people, trying to rip me off.”

That's a weird story by Goldberg. He spends most of it reiterating the president's past outrages and buries the lede way down, before returning to pad with a longer list of the former president's offenses against military personnel and the miltary's place in our constitutional order.

All that is fine and good, and well known, but that quote is your story, and there's barely three paragraphs on it. The guy is the editor-in-chief.

And now he's emptying the asylum of the most dangerous inmates and appointing them to Cabinet and other key positions.
The latest is a FOX person with little (no?) military experience, Pete Hegseth, as defense head.
Boys and girls, can you say "Military Coup?"

between this MFer and the muskaswanny DOGE, i'm very seriously worried that they might move to outsource all DOD civilian functions to defense contractors.

that would be perhaps the dumbest possible move, by the way. which means it's very highly likely. i fucking hope not.

Fuck DOGE , all bark and no bite , just another "think tank" ,they can make all the recommendations they want , they will need Congress to pass the recommendations, assume no dems and likely a good numbers of Republicans won't go for that crap

I tend to see it that way too. Unless the Republicans abolish the filibuster (which they very well might) some of these things will be difficult to implement. Trump can (and will) still to plenty of damage through executive orders, and I have no doubt that he'll push that to the very limits and beyond, but I think (hope?) that his worst excesses will be able to be held in check.

I hope I'm right. I wish I was more certain.

The only holdover from four years ago who doesn't want to be back in Washington is Melania.

Trump met with Biden today.

I imagine that being in the room with them would be a lot like watching The Sunshine Boys.

I think we will see the border tighten, no more migrants getting in, and some degree of deportations, but nothing like what was promised.

It's the tariffs that have me puzzled. Why does he want them? Who will they benefit? And will Congress allow him to deploy a plan that is so unilaterally panned?
