The tariffs will benefit him.Centerfield wrote: ↑Wed Nov 13, 2024 3:29 pmI think we will see the border tighten, no more migrants getting in, and some degree of deportations, but nothing like what was promised.Benjamin Grimm wrote: ↑Wed Nov 13, 2024 3:11 pm Trump can (and will) still to plenty of damage through executive orders, and I have no doubt that he'll push that to the very limits and beyond, but I think (hope?) that his worst excesses will be able to be held in check.
It's the tariffs that have me puzzled. Why does he want them? Who will they benefit? And will Congress allow him to deploy a plan that is so unilaterally panned?
My guess is that the Dems will win back the House in two years if it doesn't reclaim the House this election. The party out of power usually does very well in mid-term elections and I'm guessing that the madman will very likely overplay his hand.

Here's why Gaetz was so quick to resign his seat.Benjamin Grimm wrote: ↑Wed Nov 13, 2024 8:11 pm Apparently he's already resigned from his House seat. It would be really sweet if he didn't get confirmed for the new gig.
The House Ethics Committee was due to meet this week to vote on releasing a report about Matt Gaetz, who resigned from Congress on Wednesday after President-elect Donald Trump announced his intention to nominate the Florida congressman to serve as attorney general, according to two sources familiar with the discussions.
The long-awaited report was expected to be released as soon as Friday, those sources said. But with Gaetz’s resignation, it’s uncertain if the information will ever be made public.

But Chairman Michael Guest said the ethics probe into Gaetz would end if he resigned his seat to prepare for the attorney general confirmation process, as the panel only has jurisdiction over a member when they are serving in Congress.

How would that happen? How does that work? Foreigners don't pay American tariffs. Americans do. Or is your point that if the public is so fucking gullible as to believe that Haitian migrants are eating cats and dogs, they'll believe any bullshit the madman advances?

Yes, but won't they look adorable at the swearing in ceremony in those matching brown shirts?Edgy MD wrote: ↑Fri Nov 15, 2024 9:31 am Well, there is some reporting that says that there are possible plans for Vice President-elect Vance and Senator Thune to convene the new Senate and immediately adjourn it so the president can push through some or all of his cabinet as recess appointments.
Uncharted waters.
