Well, there is some reporting that says that there are possible plans for Vice President-elect Vance and Senator Thune to convene the new Senate and immediately adjourn it so the president can push through some or all of his cabinet as recess appointments.

You'd think that this is a line that even the supplicant backboneless GOP wouldn't cross (giving the madman-elect his Cabinet full of recess appointments). But I've learned, grudgingly, never to underestimate the madman. And maybe this is the kind of shit that has to happen for the Dems to take back the Senate in two years.

Reports also state that the the president is planning to bypass FBI background checks for at least some of the cabinet members. According to CNN, Trump and his allies believe the FBI system is slow and plagued with issues that could stymie the president-elect’s plan to quickly begin the work of implementing his agenda, people briefed on the plans said. Critics say the intrusive background checks sometimes turn up embarrassing information used to inflict political damage."

That's, of course, a big part of the purpose of background checks. If there is information lingering about that is embarrassing or could inflict political damage, that is something that could be used by enemies to compromise executive officials.

The proposed Secretary of defense is against women in the military and believes they shouldn't be in combat, despite the fact that they have proven themselves in several wars.

The people who serve have a sense of honor and duty and allegiance to the constitution.
