My wife made a very simple casserole to take to her sister's where we watched "The Big Game" this past Sunday - ground beef, shredded frozen hash browns, cream of mushroom soup, Colby jack cheese, and seasoning. It came out great and there was a bunch left, some of which I reheated today. Followed by two Aldi's brand Fig Newtons

Did you fry the Lebanon baloney?
I'm having tuna melt (Swiss cheese) on an onion roll with diet ginger ale.

I can't look now, but I bet there's a Lebanon baloney thread
somewhere in the archives.

Had some business to do in a shopping center with a free-standing
McDonald's so what the hell. Ordered a Quarter Pounder w/ Cheese meal
and a Dr Pepper. Cold fries, no ketchup (they did put two napkins in woo-
hoo), no cheese and a diet cola. Rounded up for charity, twelve dollar$.

Caveat emptor, little pink houses for you and me and bbbyyy...

At least I haven't had diarrhea. Yet.

I got a dose of "Small Town" while I was just bouncing from Giant to Lidl to do my grocery shopping.

So, you got the wrong drink and the wrong sandwich.

I can't remember the last time I got ketchup packets anywhere. And fastfood places wonder why nobody likes them anymore. They don't even seem to try to lure kiddos in anymore

When I have that burger craving, I go for the burger deal at Applebee's.
Huge burger (with lettuce, tomato and onion) and unlimited fries and soda for 10 bucks.
Ask for extra napkins.
At the opposite end of the spectrum of burger options - when at home, I have White Castle burgers in the freezer.

Yeah, I guess. We do have an Applebee's somewhat close and
the burgers are pretty good. And they put cheese on them if
you ask. And they have beer. And ketchup. Tabasco too!

Alternately, the local diner has good burger plates too. $17 for
starters. Iced tea is $4.75. Can't eat there without bringin' a fitty.

How would you even know know what he got? He says he got a quarter pounder with cheese but then says that there was no cheese. He got a Dr. Pepper and also a diet cola. He ordered two sodas? I'm so confused.

I've had that Applebee's deal a few times in the past month, month and a half. A big cheeseburger with endless or unlimited refills on your fries and drink. It's a good quality burger. It blows away anything you'd get at a fast food burger joint. And it's $9.99. Unbeatable.

I love McDonald's, too. It's a real guilty pleasure. But my last three visits were just awful. Dreadful, unpleasant experiences. I posted here about one of them. So bad, I'm scared to go back.

Sorry to break the news, but it looks like that great $9.99 burger deal at Applebee's may no longer be available.
They're now advertising three other special dishes.

Bad food. It wasn't a question of bad service, or nor getting enough ketchup or napkins. Or that the large fries box was only half or three quartets of the way filled. Nothing like that. The food was awful. It was the worst tasting meal I ever had at McDonald's. The burger was dried out and not as hot as it ought to have been. The bun was a tinge stale. And the fries weren't warm either. It was all stale -- like yesterday's leftovers. Which is a bad thing if we're talking about McDonald's fast food, because even when their stuff is fresh, it needs to be eaten within about 15 minutes. And all of that didn't really register with me until I had practically finished my meal. I just didn't process what I was experiencing as quickly as I should have. If I had realized earlier, I think I would've returned whatever was left, lodged my complaint and asked for a whole new order. But by the time I had figured it out, I had eaten most of the meal. So I simply left, very disappointed, without saying a word. It was the most unpleasant, least satisfactory meal I ever had there. This happened a coupl'a months ago and because of that bad experience, I have no desire to go back to McDonald's -- at least for now anyways.

Shame. That was a terrific deal. A pretty good burger. At least a heckuva lot better than any fast food burger. Well, the ad said that the deal would be available for a limited time only.

I generally only eat fast food when taking breaks during long drives. And when I do I remember Why I tend to only eat fast food during long drives.
I suspect that large highway road stop ff places probably have even worse stuff than in-town versions of the same franchises (plus they're
crowned and loud and usually dirty) but non-highway ones are only better by comparison, which isn't to say that they're good.

That deal is still available. Sort of.

The regular cheeseburger is no longer being offered but the bacon cheeseburger is still available - and at the same price. Worst comes to worst, if you don't like bacon, just peel the bacon off of the burger when it arrives.

OE -- Now that I think about it, this is the same deal that was being offered for the last month or two. The deal offered you the choice of either the chicken sandwich or the burger. And the burger is still the same one that's been offered as of late. You can order the bacon cheeseburger without the bacon, if you prefer.
