He is an absolute joy to have around. He's from Texas and has only been in NY for
a few weeks. The only thing we know about his mutt-ness is that his father was a
German Shepard and his momma was a much smaller dog. Vet thinks he'll round out
at 50-60 lbs. He was living at a rescuer's house with a dozen dogs and some cats when
we first picked him up. When we came home he ran around like a nut and then ran up-
stairs then bolted back down and jumped all over us, 'This is all mine? No other dogs or
cats? Can I stay, can I stay!?!' He's smaller than he looks in pictures. He's only 18 pounds.

Our next door neighbors, who we share side and back lawn with, rescued
Kappy's brother yesterday! What craziness having them wrassle and chase
each other around for an hour this afternoon.

Our cat Mookie just turned 19 but his appetite of late has been sparing. He's down to 8.5 lbs at this point. My wife took him to the vet on Friday and he's got intermediate stage pancreatitis and kidney disease, as well as a thyroid condition requiring medication.

Research my wife did leads us to believe that Mookie is unlikely to get much more than another year or so. We're happy we've had so many wonderful years with him. We're giving him some other food options and trying to make sure we give him lots of love.

Hope Mookie has a happy go around with the time he has left.

Sorry to hear this, Fman. A 20-yar run means he's been well-cared for and well-loved.

No, I've known a few other cats of this age and they all look like miserable zombies. Mottled fur, half blind and deaf and generally either very reclusive and/or grouchy. That ain't the Mook, though.

Aside from crying for a bit more attention, and having some trouble getting and keeping his food down, he's still a sweet lovable pet. He's got bright eyes and a healthy coat. The vet remarked on that specifically.

We took him for a walk yesterday, he loves hitting the neighborhood in his stroller.

If I saw Mookie approaching on a stroller I'd never guess 20 years old.

You need to put these on the side of the cart:

The only way I could've ever gotten my old cat to sit still in that stroller for more than three seconds would've been to have superglued her to the damn thing.

We used to zip up the lid when we took him for walks but he wanted to be able to pop up higher and see more. His nails would get caught in the screen, too. This way he can ride convertible-style.

We brought home Saturn & Mars 10 years ago. They've had at least 1 fight every day since

I don't think our tags are going to work on MP4s, but I'll try to get an MP4 button installed this weekend.

Sad to report that my daughter will have to put a kitty down later today. She’s had her close to fifteen years; not sure of her age…adopted from the Chester County SPCA.
My little granddaughter has been texting me on her very private messaging account for about 24 hours. She’s dreading it and I am so sad for them.

Gypsys been a sweet dear pet and I’ll miss her too

Our Avery the Cat lived just long enough to learn of Buck Showalter’s hiring. Said goodbye tonight at 16 1/2 years of age. Made his people extraordinarily happy from the moment we adopted him as a kitten (coinciding with a Pedro shutout of the Braves). He stayed kittenish forever after.
Hope for the best. Expect the Mets.
