Pfizer gets approved by the FDA and within one hour NYC teachers and other school personnel are mandated to get it. Same for the military. And Murphy's just mandated it for all teachers in NJ too.

Good. And there'll be a lot more of this needed because we still have too many chuckleheads. I want it to be a mandate to fly, as we have a trip coming up next month and Mrs Lefty is getting increasingly nervous about it.

I get the desire for a third/booster shot, but I think the data suggests it'd be better globally to provide those doses to other countries (but AMERICA!!! so no). There's no way to really know yet. I don't think any data has been released about vaccine trial participants long-term antibody counts. So the people that got it last fall, who've had it for almost a year now. Figuring out how it's affecting those people will inform protocols going forward. The immuno-compromised thing is just sort of double-downing on people who's immune system may have attacked themselves, reducing the built-up immunity that they'd normally be caching. Generally speaking, I think they're only concerned with the people that in normal times you might have avoided if you felt sniffly, chemo patients, etc. Of course, there isn't much data there either. We're working with best guesses at this point.

a beer store. A guy told another guy loudly, "I ain't getting no fucking vaccine.
I'd rather die from the thing than from putting their brainwash poison in me."

Amusing (but not really, of course) that the mentally-ill brainwashed among us
are worried about being brainwashed with a vaccine manufactured by several

I would have liked to think that people are more sensible in the quiet little
hamlet the store is in, located just an hour from Metropolis but I guess not.

It just occurred to me now that when I announced my April second Pfizer shot
on FB I got very little response except for one classmate who chimed in with

I think a lot of those people take the position they do mainly because they're young and healthy and believe that their bodies will effectively fight off covid. about the only actually valid reason for not getting the vaccine is if you have a severe allergic reaction to the vaccine or its components. and even then, we know how to treat anaphalaxis. so, yeah... there's really no underlying medical condition that should keep you from getting the covid vaccine, and any underlying medical condition you might have should be more reason to be worried about getting the damn thing, even if your underlying medical condition is youth and perceived perfect health.

I was in a place indoors outside the tri-state area this past weekend where a number of people were not wearing masks and I was. One person started to berate me pretty much out of the blue, how masks don't work and there's no way he's putting that 'vaccine shit' in him. I was taken aback at first, but then I asked him if I could have his stuff when he died, or would he be leaving it to his family. Now he was the one taken aback. I moved on.

There are no more excuses. You wanted to wait and see if there were side effects? Over 200 million have had the shot, and they're still here. Waiting for full FDA approval? It's here. Afraid of Bill Gates' microchips? Then you should be prohibited from seeing a Houston Astros game, or fly on an airplane, or visit Disney World, or see a Florida/Georgia Line concert.
