If you could time-travel back and tell your younger self about this film, what would you say?

The Tomorrow War (2021)

Post by Edgy MD » Sun Jul 11, 2021 10:21 pm

Visitors from a generation in the future arrive in present to tell mankind that they are getting their asses kicked in a global war against an alien invasion. A global draft takes place to send citizens to the future to fight. Chris Pratt plays an ex-soldier who had been having trouble finding his break in the civilian world, and he ends up zapping to the future with a bunch of unqualified middle-aged shlubs.

It's like the most-downloaded thing on Amazon, because heck, they produced it.

its on my watch list, but my list is dozens of items long and most end up getting deleted without watching eventually.

based on your description of the plot, i'm already scratching my head. If the aliens are kicking ass in the future, why send people into the ass-kicking? why not prepare now to prevent that future?

I don't usually like "doom and gloom...end of the world as we know it" type of movies, but I watched it because it had Yvonne Strahovski and also Chris Pratt in it...it was decent enough for a free movie, I would watch it again before watching a Will Smith (Independence Day) or Tom Cruise (mission impossible) type of movie...

I, myself, would watch Indy Day six to nine times before rewatching thiski, but I'm glad that i live in a world where I don't have to make that choice.

Finally watched it on my phone on a recent flight - eh. i mean, normally i hope the movie i'm watching lasts until we land but in this case i was itching to get back to my book instead.

the plot holes still make no sense.

Now that you bounce this up, I guess the reason future generations are drafting middle-agers to go into the future to fight is because if they get more age-appropriate soldiers, they'll be killing off ancestors before their child-bearing years, and wiping out their own existence.
