That's the problem, though, right? Culturally, Anaheim doesn't really resonate much. It's most famous building is a fake castle. It's cultural institutions are borrowed and faux. It was founded by German immigrants who wanted to get into the wine game and didn't know what to do and got wiped out by a grape blight. It's the childhood home (though not the birthplace) of Jackie and Mack Robinson, but was also a huge upwardly mobile Klan stronghold.

Even to the extent that Anaheim=Disney, it's not really the provocative, woke Disney that MAGA resents, but the awkward (and worse) white-hegemony Disney that MAGA misses.

So, with the options of culture being theme parks and convention centers, it isn't too suprising that they'd borrow from a more resonant neighbor.

Are there major cultural and ideological differences between the two American Disneys? If so, I didnt have the slightest clue about that.

Maybe they take on the characteristics of their surroundings?

Other potential themes: orange groves, Joshua Tree National Park, or something that people who live there know about that we wouldn't that really, you know, connect to the city.

The local airport is John Wayne Airport.
There's a bigass statue of him in the rotunda. Anybody flying into there (fans and players from visiting teams) can't miss it.
A Cowboy-style uniform* paying homage to the big cowpoke would have had a closer connection than to surfing.

I picked 7 in this poll and 2 of 3 at home versus the Brewers is very manageable. But fuck it, I want 8!

I picked 10, so if the Mets can pull off 5 out of 3, I'm looking genius.

I'm completely on target as I voted 8 and contemplated a Brewer sweep

But that leaves the Mets with only 5 wins out of the 13 games!!!

Predicting 8 wins out of 13 (inclusive of a Brewers sweep) would be right on target.

I didn't post it saying so, but I was one of the three CPF'ers who correctly called this 13 game stretch with a 7-6 prediction, which I'm also pretty happy about.

I guess 7-6 is ok, but I thought the Mets underperformed their potential against these good teams. In the next 11 against Houston/Miami, I’d like to see 7-8 wins.

8 would have been better, Wednesday's game sucked ass hairs.

Kicking some Marlin butt around this weekend would be be fun. They always seem
a pest and it goes without saying, "Fuck Donnie Fishstick."

The Mets have won their last four season series from the Marlins and seven of their last eight. The Miamians may be pests, but their nettlesomeness is overcome more often than not (two Game 162s from a long time ago notwithstanding).
Hope for the best. Expect the Mets.

In the bigger picture the Mets have played 25 games in 27 days with 16 of those games played in Mountain/Pacific time and 16 of those games against teams with records over .500. Their record for those 25 games is 16-9.
