What is cocaine's brightest achievement? The original run of Saturday Night Live? Rumours? The 1979 Pittsburgh Pirates?
What is cocaine's darkest achievement? The Star Wars Christmas Special? Flash Gordon? The Ethel Merman disco album?
Obviously cocaine's truly darkest achievements are Lenny Bias and John Belushi's deaths. But we're looking for actual artifacts left behind, presented as accomplishments in their time, but can only be explained in later days by referencing cocaine.

That's not a bad answer. That's a pretty wired scene that came out of, isn't it?cal sharpie wrote: ↑Mon Jun 13, 2022 3:31 pm David Bowie's Station to Station - the return of the thin white duke.

Bright Lights, Big City wins for cocaine novel.
Re: Bam-Bam
That's a product of cocaine, as well as a comment on it?
I would think Dr. Jeckyl and Mister Hyde, reportedly written in about six days, is the GOAT for cocaine novels.

Maybe this predates cocaine is is just other kinds of narcotics. But I suspect just about anything from Sid and Marty Kroft was created under the influence. Especially “HR Puffenstuff.”

Not the Tito Nieves song?

I'm partial to Black Sabbath's "Snowblind," on the plus side of the ledger.
Re: Bam-Bam
It's fun looking at Black Sabbath songwriting credits and seeing "John Michael Osbourne / Terence Butler / Tony Iommi / William Ward."
Initially, it's like, I recognize Tony Iommi, but who are those other idiots?

John Michael Osbourne sounds like he should have a peerage title.

JOEL SCHUMACHER: I think the scene's hanging together. It's got balance and composition, the right pacing and tone, and it works as a crucial transition between what precedes and what follows. We got what we need. I think this scene's a wrap.
COCAINE: It doesn't have Tim Capello.
JOEL SCHUMACHER: Who?
COCAINE: Will you please SHUT THE FUCK UP?! I'M THINKING!

Life in the Fast Lane pretty much defines all this.
Even duct tape can't fix stupid. But it can sure muffle the sound.
