Guess that Met
Re: Guess that Met
All correct! A clean sweep! Well done. Five new questions have been added.
1. Which switch hitter, a former Met, was the first to collect 100 or more hits from each side of the plate in the same season?
2. Which future Met did Roger Maris hit his 61st home run off of in 1961?
3. Who am I?
4. I'm a member of a fairly rare group
And you might see my name in some alphabet soup
Actually, I'm on more than one short list
Here's a couple you might've missed
Before New York brought me forth
I was born up there in the Great White North
And perhaps this'll help you guess my name
I appeared in just a single game
And here's one more that I hope and pray
Doesn't totally give the answer away
At least it'll surely help you guess better—
My surname begins with a unique letter
Who am I?
5. Who am I?

Re: Guess that Met
All are correct, except the first one, well done! I'll leave that one as I never provided any hints. Four new questions have been added.
1. Which switch hitter, a former Met, was the first to collect 100 or more hits from each side of the plate in the same season?
Hint: Played in MLB from 1975 to 1991, spending 1991 with New York. Hit .228 in 80 games with them. The Mets traded Tim Teufel to get him.
2. From the back of a baseball card: "With all the looks and mannerisms of Dwight Gooden, this player was put into the starting rotation as a replacement for the injured 'Doc.' He notched his first M.L. win in his second start, a 6-1 decision over the Houston Astros, when he held them to seven hits and one earned run in seven innings." Who am I?
3. Who am I?
4. From the back of a baseball card: "Versatile multi-position utility man. Excellent stolen base ratio in 1989." Who am I? (Good luck).
5. From 1980 to 1988, the game-winning RBI was an official statistic. Which former Met holds the major league career record in that category?

Re: Guess that Met
Templeton, Hundley and Hernandez are correct! Three new questions have been added.
Hint: Might be most well-known for a long losing streak. He died relatively Young.
2. From the back of a baseball card: "Versatile multi-position utility man. Excellent stolen base ratio in 1989." Who am I? (Good luck).
Hint: Played for the Mets from 1987 to 1991. Traded by the New York Mets with Gregg Jefferies and Kevin McReynolds to the Kansas City Royals for Bill Pecota and Bret Saberhagen. Stole 16 bases for NY in 1990. Played in the majors until 1995.
3. Which one-time Met holds the all-time career record for runs scored?
4. I pitched for the Mets
And one year did pretty great
As my ERA was low
A tidy 1.88
But that season was stunted
Held to just four starts
The next campaign was longer
And I sort of fell apart
Who am I?
