What's in Store for Twenty-Four?: Harrison Bader

Post by Edgy MD » Mon Mar 18, 2024 3:53 pm

I've heard it since my schoolboy days at Horace Mann. They nicknamed me "Master." Yeah, very funny assholes. So mature! But others call me "The Mover." The Yankees got me in order to move Aaron Judge out of centerfield, and that worked out until they realized I wasn't looking like I was in any hurry to hit. So they traded me to the Reds down the stretch, because the Reds wanted to move TJ Friedl out of center, and that worked out, but I really didn't hit with the Reds. So not so much.

And now I'm here. I'm Harrison Bader and the fact is that I'm 30 and I sorta haven't hit since I was 27. I'm still in the big leagues, because I keep catching flies. So you can call me "Spider," because somebody has to catch those flies.

Two straight years without hitting is getting old, but you probably owe me a big thank you, since the lion's share of that time not hitting has been me not hitting for the Yankees. And besides, only you know what's gonna happen in year three. ONLY YOU!!

He'll play more games before June 15 than he will after that date. His bat won't make up for his glove, and he'll be displaced in the outfield by either McNeil or Gilbert. Or maybe even Stewart or Taylor.

Tommie Agee with the glove, Don Hahn with the bat.
Would play every day in a better lineup, but I'm not sure he won't be replaced at some point in the season with a better hitter.

Whoah! I salute your boldness. That's about as bearish a prediction as there be.

Unless someone predicts that he'll be eaten by a bear.

His Marcel looks right to me

That .301 will be bothersome
