What's in Store for Twenty-Four?: Brett Baty
Now is my time. The Mets have seemingly committed to give me sustained opportunities to establish myself as a major-league hitter. I just have to turn that corner and ... establish myself as a major-league hitter.
And maybe not embarrass myself as a major-league fielder along the way.
I don't have to be Robin Ventura, right? I don't even have to be Eric Chavez. I could be Richie Hebner! I could be Mike Moustakas! I could be ... Corey Koskie?! These are good things to be!
Or I could be Cody Asche. Or Lou Klimchock. This is the limbo my career hangs in. Won't you please unhang it, and tell me where things are going?

Well, he's already had a better career than Lou Klimchock. So at least there's that.
I'd be delighted if he could be a Dave Magadan, but I'm no longer optimistic about him. I think 2024 is the year that confirms that he's not the third baseman of the future.

19-60-.315/.410/.533
That was his line at AA-AAA in 2022
If we cut that by 10% we're looking at
17-54 .283/.369/.480
Still not too shabby.

In ST, I've seen him take a pitch from a lefty and serve the other way for a hit. If he can do that consistently, he's going to stay in the lineup more than a strict platoon and his numbers will be .267-18-74 in 145 G.
If he reverts and can't hit lefties, his numbers as a platoon player will be .244- 10- 51 in 122 G.

.245/.315/.415, with 17 HR. If he can't improve his strikeout rate, he is just going to be meh.

I want to see him excel but my Magic 8-Ball keeps saying 'Keep Dreaming.'
