Getting some mileage out of a posed, spring-training, low-angle, Topps-ready file foto brings a lot of dignity to TALL AT SHORT. We've already given the big prize to a Newsday memorial cover, but I'm going for this one too, in this round at least.

A clever (perhaps too obvious but clever) headline, a suitable subheadline, and a great action photo capturing a key moment in the season.

You can't be giving awards and retired numbers out everywhere you go. Jeez. Big moment in the season, captured on film, pretty unusual if not great headline. Easy choice

My problem with PICADILLY CIRCUS is that, from both the headline and the photo, I get the idea that the Mets lost and lost embarrassingly. I have to get about nine words into the subhead before realizing that wasn't the case.
