Re: IGT 4/2/2025 (#6): NYM@MIA — Holmes Before Home

The Mets are playing like it's 1964. They have found numerous ways to lose thus far. No hitting, beyond Soto. The defense has been gifting base runners and runs to the opposition. They definitely need to wake up and get their heads out of their butts.

Daniel Murphy hit over .300 2 or 3 times as a Met.

I filled my wife's tank on Sunday afternoon at the Shell station near my house for $2.55/gallon. Drove by the station yesterday, the price was $2.99/gallon. I thought their must be screwed up or they have lost their minds. On the way home, I passed 3 other stations and they were all now $2.99/gallon...

Re: Bending the Knee and Politics in 2025

My son has roughly 3 years of services as a federal employee. He was on the original probationary list (due to taking a promotion), but somehow survived the initial wave of firings. Several of his friends and colleagues were not so fortunate. He is both stressed and depressed from working under the ...

Still doesn't look a day over 150. Remarkable.
Probably still on the social security dole too. At least according the DOGE.

Re: Memories of Jose Iglesias

I can't imagine not offering a deal better than a minor league deal. I guess the Mets want to give the kids Acuna, Baty, Mauricio, and Williams a shot. signing Iglesias would likely block a path for one of the youngsters.

Pretty much my first thought when I saw the report on MLB. I just can't fathom why the Mets wouldn't reach out to Quintana to get him signed and in camp.

Much better pitcher than he got credit for. Best seasons by a Mets reliever by WAR, last 25 years: Ottavino appears twice (along with Diaz, Wagner, Familia, and Reed): Diaz, 2022: 3.2 Familia, 2015: 2.9 Loup, 2021: 2.8 Reed, 2017: 2.7 Looper, 2004: 2.4 Ottavino, 2022: 2.3 Hernandez, 2005: 2.2 Wagne...

Re: Baseball America - Mets Top Ten Prospects - 1999

Rey was a very good defensive shortstop. However, I always that he often made routine plays look harder than they were and made difficult chances look extraordinary. He definitely had flair. Unfortunately, his offense was so anemic that there is no way his defense could ever have made up for it.

Wow, Bregman didn't get the long-term deal he craved, but he got 3 years at an excessive rate and opt outs. The Detroit Free Press reported that the Tigers offered six years, $171.5 million with an opt-out clause after the 2026 season. And Bregman turned them down. Apparently he wanted the higher y...
