But that doesn't mean it wasn't emotionally draining.
so sorry about this

That was a horrible thing to have to do. Especially with her in the room within earshot as I was struggling through the phone call.
Very sorry to hear this. Pets are family, and it hurts to lose them.

When we had that appointment for my 19-year-old cat Tug, the vet tech said, "Nineteen years? That is a very well-cared for cat." If your friend was here for 17 years, that shows she was well-loved and well-cared for. My sincere condolences.

We waited a while before adopting a new cat, Cookie Rojas. She's wonderful, but different. I still miss Tug.
Glad to not be the only one who replaced a Met-named cat with another Met-named cat
My wife said I'm only allowed to name the pets. Now you know why!

When I was growing up, no dogs were allowed in my apartment building, so I had goldfish.
Later, I had three turtles named Hoppy, Lucky and Johnnie (after the characters on the Hopalong Cassidy show)
Time passed and when I got married we had a cat named Fluffy, who lived for 17 years. She died when we were on vacation, and my daughter found her and had to bury her (In our back yard)
Then we had a cat named Chester (the Wonder Cat) who also lived to 17 and died in the house. He's also interred in our back yard (not the same spot).
I can't have any pets now because of restrictions about my dialysis machine and the tubing to it. (Animals tend to play with the tubing)
But when I watch TV downstairs, I still wish I had Chester curled up next to me.

I have never insulted anyone. I simply describe them, accurately.
