New Answer/Ask Spill Off and Discussion Thread
Is it spilloff, spill-off or spill off? Anyway...
...answering that question is not what the thread is for.

High school reunions…
I went to my five year reunion. It was at a country club and we all dressed up. I don’t remember much about it except I was upset because I still had bad skin and had to switch my choice of dress.
10 year reunion was basically a beer bash at a picnic grounds.
Bunch of yuppies standing around trying to impress each other while the rest of us drank and danced.
Then Rod (Toner?) streaked and pretty much brought the ones with their noses in the air back down to earth. Bless his heart.
Skipped all the rest of them until 45th, in 2022. I worked for one of my classmates by then at a retirement job in a greenhouse. Absolutely loved it and we enjoyed talking about our old pals.
Talked each other into going (mid class club hall I guess you’d call it) and sat together with other friends.
One of the rah rah chippy girl classmates got up to do a speech and said (simpering voice) ‘High School was the best years of my life’
Monday Paul said to me, isn’t that sad what Tina said? And I said I was thinking the same thing…
But that’s rah rah chippy girls for ya…

Answering two of my own questions:
My dream rail trip is also the Orient Express.
I've never knowingly used AI. But somebody sure has ben using it on me, tracking my purchases and preferences.
It seems like every time I scratch my butt, I get emails and Facebook pop-ups about butt scratching.

Sure you have. Have you ever autocompleted a word on a digital keyboard/phone? That's AI. It's just a smaller scale version of Large Language Models. "In the cloud" just means it's on someone else's computer. "AI" just means computer program. Ever taken a picture on your phone? Chances are an "AI" algorithm touched it up, fixed the contrast, changed to night mode, etc. I know you love your TikTok filters. Those are all "AI".MFS62 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 14, 2024 4:45 pm Answering two of my own questions:

I never use autocomplete. I prefer to type the word myself. Why should someone tell me what I'm going to write?
Now that I think of it, when I ask my wife what she'd like me to order (take-out) if I type "chicken", the phone suggests Chow Mein and I accept it. I guess that's an example of tracking my preferences.
And, I said "knowingly" , so if the camera touched up the picture for me, thank you. But I didn't ask for it.
So I guess I do use it, sometimes.

Totally pointless. A dumb rule made for the purpose of making a rule. I thought so from the get-go but kept my mouth shut because I don't know why. My suggestion is to put everything in the same original thread --- the answers to the asks and the runoff answers.

Then the questions can get lost. The other option is to just start a whole thread devoted to the question.

I think I've had two, maybe three, in my life and not in many years.
The last time I got pulled over by a cop ... I was on a bicycle (but it wasn't for speeding)

I think you'll manage. Better than having to look for a separate thread. And it's easier to read everything when it's in the same thread.whippoorwill wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2024 1:59 pm Then the questions can get lost. The other option is to just start a whole thread devoted to the question.

There's gotta' be a story behind that one.Frayed Knot wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2024 7:42 pm The last time I got pulled over by a cop ... I was on a bicycle (but it wasn't for speeding)

Re: New Answer/Ask Spill Off and Discussion Thread
Ran a Stop sign in an upscale neighborhood with its own small village police force. The intersection isn't all 90 degrees so the squad car was to my left where I couldn't see around the hedges due to the acute angle. Obviously he caught up to me quickly thereafter with his siren going and the I calculated the odds of out-running him as not good. I thought about trying to claim entrapment seeing as the sign was at the bottom of a fairly steep hill where no cyclist want would to kill all that good momentum in a lightly traveled area, but it was probably wise not to go that route.
He asked for ID which I wasn't carrying so he ran my name and DOB which, fortunately, turned up no outstanding warrants for my arrest. Not that I thought there would be any but it's always good to get that fact confirmed every once in a while. I got away with a lecture (which I totally deserved) but no citation. And, yeah, it's a neighborhood I still ride through regularly (it helps avoid more heavily trafficked roads nearby) and I now always stop at that intersection.

LOL!
Thanks.
We just prefer to think it was your CPF membership card that kept you from getting the ticket.
Never leave home without it.
