Politics Are Still Loco: 2024

I clicked on the tweet and I think that's St. Michelle. Boobs
and nipples poppin' and quite pretty in the face...
But good golly, Trump summoning the saints with prayer. If
anyone buys that they deserve what's coming to them.

It's the 'imperfect vessel' theory of Christianity. Essentially, 'Yeah he cheats on his third wife with a porn star, but he's against abortion'. He tells them what they want to hear and laughs at them behind their backs.
Even duct tape can't fix stupid. But it can sure muffle the sound.

That picture on the right is dangerous.

What a bunch of suckers. The deranged lunatic believes in God as much as I do. I'll give him that much credit.Lefty Specialist wrote: ↑Tue Oct 01, 2024 12:51 pm It's the 'imperfect vessel' theory of Christianity. Re: Politics Are Still Loco: 2024
It’s crazy right. It’s the most obvious con job in the world, yet 40% of the voting population gobbles it up.
I cannot fathom, however, how the independent voter could possibly remain undecided.
Like, gosh, on the one hand the cost of eggs might go up 35 cents a dozen, and good gravy there might be a “boy” on some college girls volleyball team somewhere that does well and wins some games. On the other hand, I could be voting for a person who has yet to say one true thing and is also lining his fucking pockets at the expense of my country. How do I even choose?

I don't get it either, and many decent people I know in real life fall for it, I am hopeful that not enough independent voters fall for it this time

THERE ARE NO UNDECIDED VOTERS!
There are only people who are still deciding whether they're going to vote at all. Nobody is undecided about Donald Trump at this point- you either love him or hate him. Anyone who says they're undecided is lying. There are, however, about 100 million people in this country who won't vote.

That "boy on a girls' college volleyball team" thing can get folks agitated enough to get prioritized pretty highly, and based on my social media feed, it's a big lever in fake news posted from offshore troll farms.metsmarathon wrote: ↑Tue Oct 01, 2024 1:27 pm It’s crazy right. When you're old and alienated (a direction we are all headed in and/or having reached), distrusting the world being changed by the generations behind you and threatening purity of the little girls in your tribe is a real ingrained instinct. It's the same thing that makes our nation ever less rational when it comes to immigration. And bathrooms, for that matter. An utterly ancient part of our brain is like, "Oh, FUCK no."

This is correct. It's likely they are closeted supporters of one or the other.

I ordered mail-in ballots for both KB and I yesterday online. I'm
sure no one needs this but in case they want to send it to someone
or whatever it's here: https://elections.ny.gov/request-ballot
KC: Not enrolled in a party
KB: Other (Women's Equality)
If that make us weird or offensive to anyone just block me here and
unfriend me on every other platform where our paths may cross.

People unenthused about voting for status quo, hard to say why. hmm...

both-sides this stuff while students, new voters, are continually punished for 'speaking' up."Let me be clear, I will always stand up for Israel's right to defend itself and I will always ensure Israel has the ability to defend itself," she said tonight. She said that Israelis should "never again" go through the horror and "unspeakable" attacks of Oct. 7.

I think Harris is pretty clear-eyed about Liz Cheney's beliefs and history. She's also willing to accept her endorsement knowing that Cheney's only doing it because she hates Trump. You take the help as it's given.
There's a pretty clear choice here. If 100 million people choose to sit it out, they don't get to complain. But complain they will, regardless of who wins. As for the status quo, well, there are no unicorns in a two-party system. Maybe if the Republican party crashes and burns for a couple of cycles, maybe a new party can rise from the ashes, one more sensible and not a cult of personality.

It's not a two-party system. We just pretend it is, by tradition, for no good reason, to our detriment.
I don't need a unicorn, and I don't ask for one.

Election Day is 30 days away and every single reputable poll sez that the deranged madman can win it.
I guess that everybody in America owns a corporation that's big enough to be listed on NASDAQ. This country has lost its mind. If Hitler was a Republican, they'd vote for Hitler, just the same.

Re: Politics Are Still Loco: 2024
WASHINGTON (AP) — Matt Gaetz withdrew Thursday as President-elect Donald Trump’s pick for attorney general following continued scrutiny over a federal sex trafficking investigation that cast doubt on his ability to be confirmed as the nation’s chief federal law enforcement officer.
The Florida Republican’s announcement came one day after meeting with senators in an effort to win their support for his confirmation to lead the Justice Department.
“While the momentum was strong, it is clear that my confirmation was unfairly becoming a distraction to the critical work of the Trump/Vance Transition,” Gaetz said in a statement announcing his decision. “There is no time to waste on a needlessly protracted Washington scuffle, thus I’ll be withdrawing my name from consideration to serve as Attorney General. Trump’s DOJ must be in place and ready on Day 1.”

I wouldn't be surprised if he ran for election to his old House seat in the upcoming special election.
